Character Information
Name: G'raha Tia
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
Canon Point: Between the end of patch 5.3 and the start of 5.4
Age: Physically 24, mentally ~124 (chronologically ~324, but he spent ~200 of that in stasis, so I don't think it really counts)

background: Wiki link!

abilities:
-cat-like ears, tail, and eyes, giving him slightly better than human hearing, agility, and vision
-the FFXIV world's equivalent of a PhD in history
-photographic memory
-a mage of moderate power and extreme technical skill; he can use black magic, white magic, form a magical sword and shield to serve as a tank, and assorted other miscellaneous acts of magecraft
--FFXIV includes teleportation magic, but it requires aetherytes to work (safely), so he won't have access to that unless/until an aetheryte or two shows up
--He's not currently capable of casting it because of the vast amount of magical energy it takes, and I doubt it would ever come up, but for the sake of thoroughness I feel I should mention that he does know a spell capable of summoning people from other worlds
-pretty good with a bow
-possesses the Allagan royal bloodline, which is what gives him his bright red eyes and dominion over all Allagan technology, should any happen to come into the game

Personality: G'raha loves heroes and adventure, and this love has been a major driving force for him for basically his entire life. In his youth, he wished to emulate the great feats he'd read about, leading to reckless showboating that often yielded embarrassing results. This is how he acts when he first meets FFXIV's player character, henceforth referred to as the Warrior of Light, challenging them to a race to acquire an object they need and then claiming that watching them in action was so impressive that it made him forget all about the prize. He makes dumb speeches from high places, he pouts and fusses when told he's not allowed to accompany the Warrior of Light into extremely dangerous places, and he eagerly shows off at every opportunity, whether it's his extensive historical knowledge or his skill with his bow.

But then things start getting serious, and G'raha starts growing up. At the end of the Crystal Tower raid series, he learns that the final wish of the people who built the tower was that it would one day stand as a shining beacon of hope once more, and he decides to seal himself and the tower off until humanity can figure out how to open the doors for themselves. The tower because its contents are too dangerous for the world as it currently is, and himself so that, when the world is ready for the tower, there will be someone there that can operate it and fulfill the Allagans' hopes, without risk of the mystical bloodline that allows him to do so dying or fading out. Both of these indicate a level of wisdom and selflessness that he lacked at his introduction, proving his growth.

Unfortunately, when the tower's opened again, it's to a war-torn, decimated, full-on Bad End future, and G'raha once again must do an awful lot of growing up awfully quickly. Once again, he is burdened with carrying the hopes of a doomed people, but this time it's people whom he meets and spends time with, whom he thinks back on fondly even a hundred years later. But it's a heavy burden they place solely on his shoulders, and the weight of it guides him for the next hundred years. He needs to hide his identity, but he also finds himself thrust into a position of leadership in the First, and those two things heavily affect how his personality grows and develops before he meets the Warrior of Light again.

He becomes softspoken and reserved, with a quiet authority that strikes a strong contrast to the bluster of his youth. Though he is secretive about his personal details, not even telling the people of the Crystarium his name, he is personable, even-keeled, and deeply dedicated to the well-being of his people, working tirelessly to keep them safe and as well as possible given their circumstances. And perhaps the most striking change is that after seeing all this suffering and sacrifice and true heroism and courage, he ends up with a strong sense of humility, shying away from praise and commendation even as his acts grow more and more impressive and heroic. He feels he simply can't live up to people like the Warrior of Light or the people in the Bad End future who sent him on this mission, as he is only where and who he is thanks to their example and guidance.

And then, at the end of it all, he doesn't die like his plan demanded. His identity is revealed, and now that the world is saved, he no longer has any need to be cagey and kind of manipulative. He can just. Be himself as he is, especially after he's brought back to his original time period and fuses with his younger self. He regains his youthful exuberance and passion, though tempered now by his experiences in a way that makes some people who don't know what his deal is observe that he seems weirdly old for his apparent age. He is optimistic about the new future granted to him and his world and excited to explore it alongside the Warrior of Light, just as he has dreamed of for so long. And ready to continue helping people, as is expected of one of the Warrior of Light's companions. A good cat.

Inventory:
-His magic staff, which uses a piece of the Crystal Tower as its focus, but is otherwise unremarkable as far as magic staffs go
-A linkpearl, which is a small earpiece that enables long-distance communication with other linkpearls. Basically a tiny magical walkie talkie that is not of much use without other people with linkpearls in the game.

Which of the following would they most like to have in abundance: limitless good luck, the freedom to act without restraint, the ability to teach and to learn, or for everyone to just relax? Given that he basically already has the ability to teach and learn in abundance and that it's a large part of what he'd do with the freedom to act without restraint anyway, I'm going to go with the freedom to act without restraint.
